Daniel is a senior executive leader who has successfully grown technology businesses at every stage: from start-up, to mid-cap, to the Fortune 100. He is a high energy, creative driver who thrives in difficult environments. Daniel is President of Europe and member of the executive team at Earthport, PLC. Earthport is the largest network for open bank payments dedicated to transforming the process, technology, and transparency of cross border payments and foreign exchange.
Previously, he was the CEO of Faculty of 1000. Faculty of 1000 builds software tools for the biomedical world. He was formerly co-founder and CEO of buzzumi, (acquired by F1000.com) a software platform that allows secure, online enterprise collaboration. Previously, he served as Head of Product Management for Deutsche Bank’s Global Transaction Bank from 2007-2011 and as a member of the board of this $5 billion division.
Daniel joined Deutsche Bank in 2000 as the youngest Managing Director in the firm’s history as COO of the eGCI charged with developing online products for Deutsche Bank’s investment bank globally. He joined DB from iVillage, the online Women’s Network, then one of the 15 most trafficked sites on the Internet. At iVillage, he was Vice President of Commerce and a member of the management team that took the firm public. Before iVillage, Mr. Marovitz worked for Gateway 2000 where he served as the head of Gateway.com, which sold the first PC over the Internet. He took Gateway.com from zero to $750 million in annual sales over two years. Prior to this, Mr. Marovitz was the co-founder of Gateway’s Japanese subsidiary in Tokyo.
A frequent speaker on technology subjects, Mr. Marovitz has addressed audiences around the world. In 2001, he co-authored, Three Clicks Away: Advice from the Trenches of eCommerce, published by John Wiley. He is a patented inventor and a fluent speaker of English, Spanish, Japanese and Galician. Mr. Marovitz graduated cum laude from Cornell University in 1994.
